Like The Tides.

July 14, 2016 by Emily Dill 2 Comments

And you are, like the ocean,
So beautiful by day

The sun beats down on your waves
That encourage me to play

A bird calls lazily above us
As we stretch, warm and alive

And nothing matters except salt water
And the base instinct to survive

But survival takes a new meaning
When the sun trades places with the moon

And you try to swallow me whole
As I race across your dune

The wildness of the sea
Is in your scream, your hair, your eyes

So I hold my breath as I go under
And pray for the sun to rise

Living In Pages.

She’s sipping tea at Manderley
Eating mushrooms in the Shire
Roaming moors with the Brontes
At Thornfield, watching the fire

Dancing at a Pemberley party
Finally a prefect, Year Seven
So we ask you not to mourn her
For she has died and gone to
Book Heaven

A very merry Christmas to you all!

Christmas Eve, 2014

Christmas Eve, 2014

Christmas Eve, 2014

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Christmas Eve – we definitely did in my neck of the woods. (And no, I don’t live in the same neck of the woods as Red Riding Hood and her grandma. Different neck. They’re located much closer to the Big Bad Wolf. He’s a punk.)

Christmas is one of my two favorite hoidays, the other being Halloween. Seriously, you should see the spectacle I make of myself and my house in the month of October. But Christmas is always fantastic too, and this year was no exception. I watched my two favorite Christmas movies, Elf and It’s a Wonderful Life. I ate a ton of food, which was a pleasant surprise. This is my first Christmas avoiding gluten/wheat, and I didn’t know if I’d find as many delicious calorie-laden, fattening, junky delicacies this year. But oh, child, I did.

Anyway, I think this was our best Christmas ever, and I hope you all felt the same way about yours. And now…on to the New Year!! 🙂
