I hear your whisper in a rain drop
See your spirit in a random little boy
Feel your energy in fireworks
That I never can seem to enjoy
Sense your iciness in snowflakes
Replaced by your warmth in the sun
Feel your reserve in the date nights
That I couldn’t convince you were fun
Hear your passion in a preacher
But get stabbed by loneliness in bed
Pretend I understand you in a library
Though I never could get inside your head
Touch your face in a meadow
Forever feel your breath in the wind
Hear your loud laughter in the letters
I still won’t bring myself to send
Shiver at your harshness when it thunders
Remember your strength at the dawn
Go to a parade and close my eyes
And feel the force of you ever marching on
Hate myself in the sunshine
Hate myself more in the dark
Regret every moment I spent with you
But respect the way that you left your mark
